Exclusive Super VIP Show at NOLA Funk Fest 2024: A Musical Journey Through Louisiana Blues

We're thrilled to announce a special, one-night-only Super VIP show at this year’s NOLA Funk Fest -- an event you won’t want to miss!

Noted slide guitarist and WWOZ 90.7-FM DJ Marc Stone will present "Gris Gris, Bayous and Mojo: A Musical Journey Through The History of Louisiana Blues," a unique concert that will take place in the New Orleans Jazz Museum Theater.

This exclusive, intimate show will feature an incredible lineup of legendary Louisiana artists who have each made significant contributions to the history of the blues. Curated to complement the Louisiana Blues exhibit at the N.O. Jazz Museum, the concert promises to be a 90-minute journey through the rich tapestry of Louisiana blues. Among the stellar performers are Baton Rouge Blues legend Chris Thomas King, whose recent book "The Blues: The True Narrative of My Music and My Culture" has revolutionized our understanding of the genre’s origins, arguing that the blues was born in New Orleans in the late 19th century. Joining him will be Son House protégé and world-renowned slide guitar master John Mooney, Black Americana phenom Lilli Lewis, multi-instrumentalist Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes, Funk and RnB legend Marilyn Barbarin, nationally acclaimed Blues artist Mem Shannon, and violinist Donald Surtain, all supported by the Marc Stone Band.

Together, these extraordinary artists will pay tribute to the music of Leadbelly, Slim Harpo, Marva Wright, Snooks Eaglin, Little Walter, Walter "Wolfman" Washington, Clifton Chenier, and many more -- celebrating the past and present of Louisiana blues in a truly unforgettable performance.

The only way to gain entry to this remarkable show is with the purchase of a Super VIP ticket or an artist sponsorship package ($1,000 and above). Prior to the show, you'll also have the opportunity to be the first to see our new exhibit on Louisiana Blues, "Shake Your Hips." This official exhibit premiere includes a presentation by curators Bob Santelli and David Kunian.

Don’t miss your chance to experience this once-in-a-lifetime musical event and witness the history of Louisiana blues come alive on stage. Secure your Super VIP ticket today and join this exclusive celebration at NOLA Funk Fest 2024!
